Dr. Carlos Garcia Bows out Gracefully
Message sent to Del Mar College employees Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007
Hello Everyone,
I want to personally share with you, as valued colleagues, that I will be leaving Del Mar College. My decision culminates discussions initiated months ago with the Board of Regents. The timing of this announcement will allow the Board to plan and conduct the search for a successor and afford a transition period for Martha and me. During the interim, I assure you that I will continue to give my very best efforts to achieve our goals with the utmost dedication to our important mission.
I expect the most frequently asked question will be, “Why leave now?” We’re all familiar with the expression, “When the time’s right, you’ll know it.” I can say to you with absolute conviction that now is the best time for me, both professionally and personally.
Del Mar College is well positioned to advance to greater heights of service to students and the Corpus Christi community. I am proud of what we have accomplished together and secure in the knowledge that the best is yet to come.
Thanks to all of you who have extended your support and guidance. I appreciate your ideas and, most of all, your friendship.
Carlos A. Garcia, Ph.D.
President
